When making existing homes more sustainable, there is not always room to install a hybrid heat pump system. Finding a suitable location for the outdoor unit can also be tricky. A technical feauture to Remeha's Confida family solves this problem. The installer can connect the supply from the outdoor unit directly to the existing central heating system. He only needs to run a pipe to the nearest connection point. This means shorter pipework, less heat loss and faster installation. A patented check valve is mounted in the supply line and maintains minimum water circulation to protect the system from freezing.
The hybrid reimagined, concludes the jury. The easy connection to the existing installation, combined with the freedom of placement, is a smart move. One that will save the installer a lot of time when connecting. This system increases the applicability of the heat pump and is thus a potential market driver. The jury calls the T-piece with check valve ingenious, even though the connection is already more widely used in the market. The question remains: how do you take the next step if the boiler can be dropped? Preferably that should be possible. Water-side adjustment is also a point of attention for this solution, the jury noted. Does this system succeed in creating an installation that performs optimally?Jury VSK+E Awards 2026
