Flowerbox | Itho Daalderop BV

When making existing homes more sustainable, there is not always enough space to place installation technology indoors. For this reason, the Flowerbox was developed: a compact, prefabricated climate module for outdoor installation, in which a heat pump, storage tank and fittings are integrated. The installation box is placed outside, is fully insulated and provides access from outside for maintenance. This leaves the interior space of the house completely intact, while service can be carried out easily and quickly. An important added value, especially in renovations. The cladding is optional, such as a wood finish. The top provides space for planting so that technology blends into the environment.

Creative interpretation of the outdoor heat pump. Especially in the housing association world, this is a promising solution and a plus, because it makes the ground source heat pump - the energetically best heat pump system - accessible to homes where that space inside the walls is hard to find. Interesting also for mini-heat units (multiple homes on one ground source). That heat pump is not new - the innovation here is in the prefabricated design and renovation orientation. The aesthetic added value is a plus and a fine example of rethinking. However, it is difficult to estimate how the flowers will look after a few years. About the installation practice: the installer does not have to go into the house for maintenance, which is an advantage. The jury does have questions about how easy it is to reach the installation for maintenance.
