Heat pumps must work together with smart energy systems. TNO has developed a protocol to enable smart control of many more devices.
The protocol, dubbed “S2,” is now recognized as an official European standard. All conceivable electrical devices from various suppliers can communicate with a so-called Home Energy Management System (HEMS).
